Worldcupkickoff in Albstadt

After long winterbrake also the UCI MTB Worldcup kicks off with the first of six cross country rounds in Albstadt in south Germany.

The crew over there made a superb job the last weeks and built up a nearby complete new track, which was 4,2 km long, technical but most of all really hard because of the steep and long climbs.

I had a good start in the strong U23 field on saturday and could go into the first hill as second. When I pushed a bit in the end of the second hill I noticed that I’m just opening a small gap. After the following downhill I passed the finishline the first time with a little gap. I tried to keep my rhythm and not push to hart because I thought that someone would catch up again. But till lap two noone did so I tried to build up an bit bigger gap. When going into the last of six laps I got nearby 1 min to Begian Schurmanns and Dutch van der Heijden. It was crazy to came back into the finisharea after this last lap, winning my first Worldcup in front of Schurmanns and van der Heijden. So big and unbeliveable emotions!
