The second round of the UCI MTB Worldcup was held in „Down Under“ in Cairns in the province of Queensland. The physicaly really demanding 5.1 km long track through the tropical rainforest was fun and all seemed good.
On friday I had a really good start into the weekend with the Eliminator race, where I could made it into the final heads with the second best time and got 8th in the end. I was really happy about that especially because the focus was on sundays Cross Country.
But the Cross Country race on sunday was over for me just before it really started. Just after the start I got down pretty hart to the gravel and still now I don’t know why. My bike and me got an hart impact and I just tried to finish to the 80% rule to get some UCI points. At least those UCI points are an real small comfort compared to this disappointment.
The Worldcupleader Absalon won the race ahead of Flückinger and Marotte.
